Hijacking: Part 2
For this project, I chose the issue of quick dopamine excess in modern world. This is one of the problems I find important to pay more attention to, because we live in the times of endless entertainments, and life should be more than just that. When scrolling through social sites, watching TV shows, listening to music all the time, we keep receiving dopamine flashes, therefore feel good. Any time people feel boredom or start getting negative thoughts - they tend to replace it with another dopamine surge. At first glance, such activities do not seem to be harmful. However, not if we're dealing with excessive amounts.
I chose this image of Tony Montana from "Scarface" movie, because his facial expression represents the exact feeling of "having too much". He could be looking like this at anything else besides drugs (as in the original frame). Especially, at something that used to give a lot of pleasure, but later stopped. Just like with any quick dopamine we are getting used to. In this hijack, the viewer is looking from inside the TV (that is why "Panasonic" logo on the frame is mirrored). Tony Montana, covered in a blanket, is wearing headphones and holding a remote control, watching Netflix.
You might think that the original idea of the image stayed the same. But when we see cocaine, we think about the the reasons why people use it and it's bad consequences immediately. My picture brings attention to the same problem, but from a different, less obvious perspective.
If I had to choose where to place this image, I would probably put it anywhere as a social warning banner. Maybe adding some text would reinforce the message for any particular advertising platform. Maybe it could also serve as an advertising for spa salons, messaging "this is not resting... massage is" :))
